Mock system design interview at Salesforce

A live 45-minute round on a question reported in Salesforce interviews, run by an AI interviewer that asks one thing at a time, probes what you say, looks at your whiteboard, and weighs what that round is reported to weigh. It ends with a debrief: a score, what was strong, what was missing.

your question

Design Zapier

Connect thousands of third-party apps: watch ten million triggers by polling or webhook, and run each new event through multi-step workflows on someone else’s APIs.

You will not see the requirements, the numbers or the design before you start. That is the point.

Walk through it first

What the Salesforce round is reported to look like

45–60 minutes, and loops often include a low-level design round as well as, or instead of, a high-level one. Reported prompts include a rate limiter, a notification service, a food delivery app and a job scheduler, and guides point to multi-tenant problems close to the Salesforce platform.

What it weighs

  • Multi-tenancy: data isolation, security and per-tenant limits, built in from the start
  • Tradeoffs at every layer, including what happens when a shared cache or store goes down
  • Concurrency on shared state, such as locking against atomic updates
  • On low-level prompts: classes, API contracts and modular components drawn from the use cases

The common mistake

Preparing only boxes and arrows. Candidates describe design rounds that turn into classes, API contracts and working code, such as a food delivery app or a thread-safe task scheduler, so practise low-level design alongside the high-level kind.

From public interview guides and candidate reports, and Salesforce’s own interview guidance where it publishes any. Not endorsed by Salesforce. The interviewer is an AI running in that style; it is practice, not a prediction.

The 2 questions this round draws from

Each is reported in Salesforce interviews. Pick one to sit, or read its reference design and walk through a strong answer first.
