Mock system design interview at Figma
A live 45-minute round on a question reported in Figma interviews, run by an AI interviewer that asks one thing at a time, probes what you say, looks at your whiteboard, and weighs what that round is reported to weigh. It ends with a debrief: a score, what was strong, what was missing.
Design Google Docs
Real-time collaborative editing: many cursors in one document, every keystroke converging to the same text, offline edits merged on reconnect.
You will not see the requirements, the numbers or the design before you start. That is the point.
What the Figma round is reported to look like
Often two rounds of about an hour: one on a feature built around Figma components, the other matched to the role. Prompts are product-shaped and close to Figma itself: several people editing or commenting on one file at once, components and their instances, or a list of trending files.
What it weighs
- Concurrent edits to the same object: how they resolve and what each client sees meanwhile
- Long-lived connections, and recovering state when a client reconnects
- Scaling and storage choices, with the technology named and its cost stated
The common mistake
Bringing a generic backend template. Prompts are reported to come from problems Figma has faced, often many people working in one file in real time, so expect to be asked how concurrent edits converge and what a client sees after a reconnect, not only where the data is stored.
From public interview guides and candidate reports, and Figma’s own interview guidance where it publishes any. Not endorsed by Figma. The interviewer is an AI running in that style; it is practice, not a prediction.

The 2 questions this round draws from
Each is reported in Figma interviews. Pick one to sit, or read its reference design and walk through a strong answer first.
